When you catch the scent of fresh coffee in the air at Legacy Village of Hendersonville, chances are good that Mr. David Burke is nearby—always with his daily cup, cream only, savoring the simple pleasure of a hot brew and a sunny spot outdoors. Since joining the Legacy family in February 2023, David has quickly become known for his kindness, friendly spirit, and the way he welcomes everyone he meets.

Born on June 29, 1933, in Circleville, Ohio, David's story is one shaped by service, family, and a love for life's everyday moments. He served his country as a proud Veteran in the U.S. Army, and when patriotic music fills the room or it's time to salute during a special program, you can see the true spirit of a dedicated soldier in him. The dignity and pride he brings to those moments are unmistakable.

David's roots run deep. He married his beloved Lanita Burke and together they raised a family: Vicki, Tammy, David, Buck, Troy, and Mary. He often shares fond stories of his childhood adventures with his siblings—Richard (Dick), Don, and Pat—painting a picture of a life full of laughter and connection.

Ask him about happiness, and David will tell you it's all about time spent with family and friends. He loves nothing more than sitting in the sun, admiring nature, cars, planes, or simply whatever the day brings—especially if coffee is involved. His favorite TV show is Gunsmoke, and he's always happy to listen to anything by George Jones. His favorite song? "Your Cheating Heart."

Around Legacy, David is the sort of gentleman who never fails to hold the door, lend a hand, or make sure everyone is on the elevator before he steps in himself. Whether he's leading the way or bringing up the rear on a group outing, his thoughtful presence puts people at ease. Mr. David Burke is the very picture of an officer and a gentleman—someone whose kindness and grace touch everyone lucky enough to cross his path. We're grateful for the sunshine he brings to our community, one cup of coffee at a time.
