Resident Spotlight Diane Callendar
Born on August 29, 1942, in Tupelo, Mississippi, Diane Callendar has always been surrounded by the gentle comforts of music and family. While studying Business Administration at Ole Miss, Diane met her husband, Billy, and together they built a wonderful life—married in 1963, raising three sons (John, Bryan, and Lee), and delighting in five beloved grandchildren: Amy, Ben, Caty, Sam, and Natalie.
Music has been Diane’s constant companion. Whether she’s quietly seated in the theater, eyes closed, singing along, or joining any creative or music-centered activity, her love for melody and harmony shines through. “Music stays with me all day and reminds me of the feelings I had with my family,” Diane reflects. Though naturally mild-mannered, Diane’s comfort shows in these moments—she now sings freely, filling the room with her beautiful voice for anyone to enjoy.
Her warm humor comes out when remembering her family’s school rivalries. A lifelong Ole Miss fan, Diane laughs about her husband’s initial reluctance as their sons attended LSU: “He eventually got over it!” After years in Mississippi, Diane moved to Tennessee to be closer to family—embracing change but always keeping loved ones and music close at heart.
Diane became part of our Legacy Village of Hendersonville family in October 2024, quickly becoming a treasured presence in our community. For Diane, happiness is simple: “Spending time with family and her music.” If you catch her at mealtime, chances are she’s enjoying her favorite—spaghetti or pasta with a salad and roll.
Diane reminds us all that sometimes the quietest voices have the most beautiful song. Her gentle spirit and heartfelt melodies truly fill our halls with joy.
